great animation isnt about connecting A to B with some inbetweens, its like a stream of water, theres no stopping cus a rocks in the way. keys are inbetweens too. so in the end. its like keys breakdowns and keying tweens til a whole sequence of movement is complete. well... if you can draw it that is...

i got super frustrated over some work today, i wish i could just have Nakamura san sits like next door and i can just ask him for advice or something. i restarted 3 times and the shot still looks weird, i mean hes like in his 40 or something no way i can match what he can do, so theres no use killing my brain over "how does he do that stuff?" maybe i should just save that car for study in japan for a year or two. its difficult to figure out even 30% of the technique they use on my own, then try to make it work at the same time meeting dead lines doing something different every time... looks easy, but its damn hard.

i also happened to meet people from either disney, pixar or dreamworks once a while, they can all draw cartoons super well and make good living too. i wonder if my stuff is just too off from the general cartoon vibe, gets confusing to what i really wanna do?? (do i fit in??) these guys work on FEATURES!! isnt that more complicated? i like to think that a great animator can make anything look awesome even if its a commercial on youtube... recognition sure is nice though... but i rather sit down and doing something to satisfy myself instead of impressing anyone.

good one! Madhouse, i think the movie did the genre good, could totally be just a gunslinging action movie with no relation to any of the characters, but i think the writing and pace is well done. also Dr Movie, did a superb job on the animation, the layouts especially the close up and medium shot are so alive! im impressed by those drawings the most. a bad pose or wrong emotion drawing could ruin the best scenes.so GOOD JOB! now i need to step up myself...

Miyazaki personally critiques the test given to the animator trainees, it turned out non passed the test
"those who dont get the feeling are inadequate, those who get the feeling but cannot draw are... Inadequate as well."
it takes years of experience to even be able to step in the door of Gibli.

Koujirou Tsuraoka became a director and storyboard artist for paranoia agent.

a few of them was already doing animation on Jin Roh before gibli, so its pretty crazy how much skill it takes to work there. its not even the cream of the crop but the best of the best.

reminded me to work harder and practice, someday i'll be one those guys.(i know i said that already...)
